June 12, 2007 - The Fitchburg High School men's 2007
outdoor track & field team celebrated the conclusion of the season Tuesday night in
the Fitchburg High School "Cafe", with a "Pot Luck" supper sponsored by the
teams' parents and coaches. The supper was followed by the presentation of individual
and team awards provided by the Fitchburg High School coaching staff, and the athletic
department.
Athletes recognized for their contribution to this years team included seniors Garrett
Malouin, Derek Paine, and Josh Shea; juniors Tim Douglas, Eric Diaz, and Ismail Disu;
and freshman Patrick Hodges. Douglas received the Most Valuable
Athlete; Malouin and Paine, the Coaches' Award; Shea, the Raiders Pride
Award; Diaz, the annual Bull Goose Loony Award (in memory of throwing
Coach Jack Jerszyk); Ismail Disu, the Most Improved Athlete; and Patrick
Hodges, the Freshman Award. Varsity and Junior Varsity Awards were also
presented to all athletes who have earned the right to wear the "F",
for their commitment, hard work, and dedication to the sport of track & field.
Coach Lavers, Moore, Scott, and Woods would like to personally congratulate the men's
team, and all others who contributed to the programs success throughout the 2007
season.
June 2, 2007 - Junior Tim Douglas, Fitchburg High Schools
only representative at the 2007 M.I.A.A. State Track & Field Championships held
Saturday at Holyoke High School, finished twelfth overall in the discus with a throw of
128 2.
The Red Raiders will celebrate the end of the season on Tuesday, June 12, at 6:30 p.m.,

May 26, 2007 - The Fitchburg High School mens outdoor
track & field team ran to a twenty-sixth place finish at the 2007 M.I.A.A. Central
Massachusetts Track & Field Championship held Saturday at Fitchburg State College.
Fitchburg was led by junior Tim Douglas, who finished fourth in the discus with a
distance of 129 10, and thirteenth in the javelin with a throw of 145 3.
Also competing for the Red Raiders were Steve Silvar, who finished seventh in the shot
put, and the discus, with throws of 41 7, and 121 10, respectively; Johann Schuerman,
300 meter intermediate hurdles, tenth, 43.66; Tunde Ogunleye, German Valdez, Adam
Boudreau, and Garrett Malouin, 1600 meter relay, eleventh, 3:44.33; Hamed Akkani,
high jump, twelfth, 5 10; Derek Paine, thirteenth in both the discus, 111 7, and the
shot put, 37 11.5; Malouin, 800 meters, fifteenth, 2:06.04; Ismael Disu, Patrick Hodges,
Ogunleye, and Akanni, 400 meter relay, seventeenth, 47.67; Disu, 100 meters, eighteenth,
12.06; Eric Diaz, discus, twenty-second, 102 8; and Valdez, pole vault, no height.
Douglass throw in the discus qualifies him for the State Championship scheduled to take
place at Holyoke High School next Saturday morning with the field events scheduled to
get underway at 10:00 a.m.
May 24, 2007 - Selected Midland-Wachusett A League All-Stars
for 2007 were senior Garrett Malouin, and junior Tim Douglas, by virtue of their first
place performances at the league championship meet held on Monday, May 21st, at
Algonquin Regional.
May 23, 2007 - The Fitchburg High School mens outdoor
track & field team finished their dual meet season Wednesday afternoon, losing a close
contest to arch-rival Leominster, 78.5-66.5, at Crocker Field.
The Red Raiders were led by Tim Douglas, who finished first in two events, the discus,
136 5, and the javelin, 151 4". Individual firsts went to Hamed Akanni, high jump, 5
6; Steve Silvar, shot put, 43 .75; German Valdez and Johann Schuerman, tie, pole
vault, 9; Ismael Disu, 100 meters, 11.5; and Garrett Malouin, mile, 5:00.2.
Finishing in second for Fitchburg were Noah Marceau, high jump, 5 4; Silvar, discus,
122 3; Adam Boudreau, triple jump, 35 5.5, and the 800 meters, 2:16.0; Chris
Carbone, two mile, 11:19.2; and Schuerman, 300 meter intermediate hurdles, 43.2.
Completing the scoring with third place performances were Derek Paine, discus, 113 9,
and the shot put, 38 1.25; Valdez, triple jump, 35 4, and the 400 meters, 54.3;
Boudreau, pole vault, 9; Schuerman, 110 meter high hurdles, 17.0; Glenn Lemieux, mile,
5:33.1; Tyler Boudreau, 300 meter intermediate hurdles, 50.9; and Marceau, 200 meters,
24.8.
The Red Raiders now prepare for this Saturdays M.I.A.A. Central Massachusetts State
Qualifier hosted by Fitchburg State College with the meet scheduled to get underway at
9:30 a.m.
May 21, 2007 - The Fitchburg High School mens outdoor
track & field team finished sixth in the Mid-Wach A Championship Meet held
Monday afternoon at Algonquin Regional.
The Red Raiders had three first place performances led by double winner Tim Douglas,
who won the discus, 133 1, and the javelin, 152 2; while Garrett Malouin was
Fitchburgs other first place performance, capturing the 800 meters in 2:02.15.
Also scoring valuable points in the meet were Hamed Akanni, high jump, second, 5 10;
Derek Paine, discus, fourth, 120 1; Ismael Disu, Patrick Hodges, Akanni, and Noah
Marceau, 400 meter relay, fifth, 46.85; Disu, 100 meters, sixth, 12.08; Johann
Schuerman, 300 meter intermediate hurdles, sixth, 44.19; Adam Boudreau, pole vault,
sixth, 9 6; Chris Carbone, Eric Diaz, Cameron Trodello, and Glenn Lemieux, 3200
meter relay, sixth, 9:35.86; and Tunde Ogunleye, Carbone, Boudreau, and Malouin, 1600

May 14, 2007 - The Fitchburg High School mens outdoor
track & field team continued to struggle, losing to Mid-Wach A rival Shrewsbury,
100-45, Monday afternoon at Crocker Field.
The Red Raiders were led by Tim Douglas, who picked up wins in the javelin, 149', and discus, 130' 2". Fitchburg's only other
first place performances came in the relays, where the 400 meter relay team comprised of Ismael Disu, Patrick Hodges, Matt Serratore,
and Noah Marceau combined for a winning time of 48.6, while the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Johann Schuerman,
German Valdez, Adam Boudreau, and Garrett Malouin were victorious with a time of 4:04.0. Second place performances were
turned in by Steve Silvar in the shot put, 41' 6", and discus, 106' 1"; Disu, long jump, 18' 2.75", and triple jump, 35'.5";
Malouin, 400 meters, 54.2; and Schuerman, 300 meter intermediate hurdles, 44.2. Completing the scoring with third place
performances were Derek Paine, shot put, 40' .5"; Eric Diaz, javelin, 125' 5", and discus, 104' 9"; Schuerman, 110 meter high hurdles, 17.0,
and pole vault, 9'; Chris Carbone, mile, 5:19.4; and Valdez, 400 meters, 54.9.

May 12, 2007 - The Fitchburg High School mens outdoor
track & field team finished tenth Saturday at the Forty-Sixth Annual Ralph A. Colson
Memorial Track & Field Class A Championship held at Algonquin Regional.
The Red Raiders were led Tim Douglas, who finished second in the discus with a
personal best 139' 9". Also contributing to the teams efforts by placing in the top six
were Derek Paine, discus, third, 118' 11"; Steve Silvar in the shot put, fourth, 42 1;
Garrett Malouin in the 800 meters, fifth, 2:04.78; and the 1600 meter relay team
comprised of Malouin, Adam Boudreau, Johann Schuerman, and Noah Marceau, sixth,
3:47.54.
Other Fitchburg track & field athletes competing in the meet included Douglas, javelin,
eighth, 140 10; Marceau, high jump, eighth, 5 6; Schuerman, 110 meter high hurdles,
tenth, 17.03, and pole vault, thirteenth, 9; the 400 meter relay team comprised of Chris
Carbone, Glenn Lemieux, Patrick Hodges, and Matt Serratore, twelfth, 52.43; Boudreau,
pole vault, fifteenth, 8 6; Hodges, 200 meters, sixteenth, 26.16; and Keith Bourne, shot
put, seventeenth, 36 10.75.

May 8, 2007 - The Fitchburg High School mens outdoor
track & field team lost their fourth dual meet of the season, 99-46, falling to Mid-Wach A
opponent, Algonquin Regional, at the Tomahawks' home track.
The Red Raiders had three individual winners in the meet as Steve Silvar captured the
shot put, 43 1.5; Garrett Malouin, mile, 4:56.6; and Tim Douglas, discus, 128 10.5.
Second place performances were turned in by Douglas, javelin, 150 7; Hamed Akanni,
high jump, 5 10; Chris Carbone, two mile, 11:17.1; Greg Mendez, 100 meters, 12.1;
German Valdez, pole vault, 9 6; Eric Diaz, discus, 116 5; Malouin, 800 meters,
2:18.0; and Johann Schuerman, 300 meter intermediate hurdles, 45.2. Completing the
scoring with third place performances were Derek Paine, shot put, 39 8.25; Noah
Marceau, high jump, 5 8, and 200 meters, 25.3; Schuerman, 110 meter high hurdles,

May 4, 2007 - The Fitchburg High School mens outdoor
track & field team saw their record fall to 0-3 on the season, losing to Mid-Wach A
opponent, Wachusett Regional, 90-55, Friday afternoon at Crocker Field.
Fitchburg was led by two juniors, Johann Schuerman and Tim Douglas. Schuerman
finished first in the 110 meter high hurdles with a personal best 16.9, was second in the
300 meter intermediate hurdles, 43.9, and finished third in the pole vault with a height of
8, while Douglas set two personal bests, finishing first in the discus, 134 9, and second
in the javelin, 145. Also finishing first were Hamed Akanni in the high jump, 5 10;
German Valdez in the pole vault, 9 6; and Garrett Malouin in the 800 meters, 2:02.5.
Valdez and Malouin also teamed with Chris Carbone and Adam Boudreau to win the
1600 meter relay in 3:54.3.
Second place performances were turned in by Ismael Disu, 100 meters, 11.6, and long
jump, 18 2.5; and Steve Silvar, shot put, 41 6, and discus, 111. Completing the
scoring with third place performances were Carbone, two mile, 11:34.5; Keith Bourne,
shot put, 40 11; Derek Paine, discus, 110; Patrick Hodges, high jump, 5 4; and Greg
Mendez, 100 meters, 12.1.
The Red Raiders travel to Algonquin Regional next Tuesday afternoon with that meet
scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.
May 1, 2007 - The Fitchburg High School mens outdoor track
& field team lost their second dual meet of the season, losing to North Middlesex
Regional, 95-50, Tuesday afternoon at Crocker Field.
The Red Raiders were led by Tim Douglas, who captured first place in the javelin with a
personal best 140 11, and the discus, also a personal best, 128 7. Also finishing first
were Hamed Akanni, high jump, 5 6; Derek Paine, shot put, 41 10.75; and Garrett
Malouin, 800 meters, 2:09.5.
Finishing second for Fitchburg were Noah Marceau, high jump, 5 4; Paine, discus, 115
10; Chris Carbone, two mile, 11:28.5; Johann Schuerman, 110 meter high hurdles, 17.5,
and 300 meter intermediate hurdles, 43.9; and German Valdez, pole vault, 10.
Completing the scoring with third place performances were Steve Silvar, shot put, 39
5.5, and discus, 116 2; Schuerman, pole vault, 8 6; Ismael Disu, 100 meters, 11.9;
Eric Diaz, 400 meters, 1:02.3; and Marceau, 200 meters, 25.0.

April 28, 2007 - The Fitchburg High School mens outdoor track
& field discus team comprised Derek Paine, Steve Silvar, and Tim Douglas captured first
place with a combined distance of 355' 7", to lead the Red Raiders to a tenth
place finish overall at the 31st Annual District E Robert Duncan Invitational Division I
Relays held Saturday at the Hudson High School Morgan Bowl track & field facility.
This was the second year in a row that these three athletes combined to win this event.
Paine and Silvar also combined with Keith Bourne in the shot put relay, to finish third
with a distance of 119, accounting for all of the Red Raiders points scored in the meet.
Also competing for Fitchburg was the javelin team comprised of Bourne, Tom Gammel,
and Matt Marcoux, 258 6; the 800 meter relay team comprised of Adam Boudreau,
Noah Marceau, Patrick Hodges, and Anthony Colon, disqualified; the 400 meter relay
team comprised of Greg Mendez, Marceau, Hodges, and Colon, 48.2; the triple jump
team comprised of German Valdez, Adam Boudreau, and Hamed Akanni, 103 3.5; the
high jump team comprised of Akanni, Marceau, and Hodges, 15 6; the pole vault team
comprised of Johann Schuerman, Adam Boudreau, and Valdez, 24; the distance medley
relay team comprised of Garrett Malouin, Valdez, Glenn Lemieux, and Chris Carbone,
11:54.2; the 3200 meter relay team comprised of Cameron Trodello, Eric Faucher, Troy
Godin, and Tyler Boudreau, 10:43.9; the sprint medley relay team comprised of Faucher,
Brian Conroy, Matt Serratore, and Carbone, 4:27.4; and the 1600 meter relay team
comprised of Valdez, Adam Boudreau, Malouin, and Schuerman, 3:44.9.

April 24, 2007 - The Fitchburg High School mens outdoor track
& field team were defeated in their season opener, losing to Mid-Wach A opponent,
Milford, 86-50, at the Scarlet Hawks track.
The Red Raiders were led by the first place performances of Steve Silvar, shot put, 39
8; Tim Douglas, discus, 122 8; German Valdez, 400 meters, 55.4; and Garrett
Malouin, 800 meters, 2:14.6. Second place performances were turned in by Derek Paine,
shot put, 38 2; Chris Carbone, two mile, 11:35.0; Douglas, javelin, 126 3; Johann
Schuerman, 300 meter intermediate hurdles, 44.7; Greg Mendez, 100 meters, 12.1; and
Patrick Hodges, 200 meters, 25.1. Completing the scoring with third place performances
