February 27, 2015 - Senior Leonardo Ramirez broke his own school record in the shot put
Friday evening with a throw of 57' 1.75" to finish first at the 28th Annual New England Championship Meet held at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center, Roxbury
Community College.
February 25, 2015 - Seniors Niklas Myles, Leonardo Ramirez, and junior Joshua Higgins
were selected a Mid-Wach A League All-Stars Wednesday night by league coaches for their outstanding performances throughout the indoor track & field season.
February 21, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team ran to a
seventeenth place finish at the MIAA All-State Championship Meet held Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center, Roxbury
Community College.
The Red Raiders were led by the winning performance of Leonardo Ramirez, who captured the state title in the shot put
with a school record throw of 55' 9.5". Also representing the boys in the meet were Joshua Higgins, who finished twenty-second in the 600
meters with a time of 1:26.44, and Nik Myles in the 55 meter dash, who finished twenty-sixth with a time of 6.98.
Ramirez will travel back to the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center on Friday to compete in the New England Championships
scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m.
February 13, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team ran to a
tenth place finish at the MIAA Division III Championship Meet held Friday evening at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center, Roxbury
Community College.
The Red Raiders were led by the trio of Joshua Higgins, Nik Myles, and Leo Ramirez, who combined to score all of the
Red Raiders points in the meet. Ramirez captured the shot put for the second year in a row with a throw of 54' .25", while Myles
picked up fourth in the 55 meter dash with a season best time of 6.77, and was eighth in the long jump with a distance of 20' .50". Higgins
shattered the school record in the 600 meters set eleven years ago with a time of 1:24.65 to finish fifth in that event. Fitchburg
also ran two season bests in the relays, as the 800 meter relay team comprised of Myles, Brandon Feliz, Greg Santiago, and Kobe
Saddler finished tenth in 1:37.62, while the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Jaime Brambila, Charlie Jackson, Ben Phaneuf, and
Higgins finished twelfth in 3:42.24.
Ramirez and Myles, by virtue of their top four finishes, are automatic qualifiers for next week's MIAA All-State Meet
to be held once again at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.
February 7, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team ran to a
fifth place finish in the District E Division I Championship Meet held Saturday morning at the Doug Grutchfield Field House.
The Red Raiders were once again led by the first place performance of Leo Ramirez in the shot put, who captured
his second consecutive title in Division I with a throw of 54' 5'.5". Also finishing in the top six for the Red Raiders were:
Joshua Higgins, 600 meters, second, 1:28.14; Ben Phaneuf, 1000 meters, third, 2:56.45; Charlie Jackson, high jump, sixth, 5' 6";
and the mile relay team comprised of Jaime Brambila, Jackson, Phaneuf, and Higgins, sixth, 3:59.49. Others competing for Fitchburg were:
Bruce Johnson, shot put, eighth, 38' 6"; Freeman Palmer, 55 meter high hurdles, fourteenth, 10.30; Greg Santiago, 55 meter dash,
fifteenth, 7.30; and Sage Bray, 55 meter high hurdles, seventeenth, 11.14.
The Red Raiders travel to the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center in Roxbury on Friday afternoon to compete in the M.I.A.A. Division III Meet
scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m.
January 31, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team ran to a
fourth place finish in the Mid-Wach A Championship Meet held Saturday morning at the Doug Grutchfield Field House.
The Red Raiders were once again led by the first place performance of Leo Ramirez in the shot put, who captured
that event with a throw of 53' 5'.75". Nik Myles also had a strong showing, finishing second in the 55 meter dash, 6.85, sixth in the high jump, 5', and leading
off the 880 yard relay comprised of Brandon Feliz, Greg Santiago, and Kobe Saddler, which finished third in 1:45.74. Other multi
event point scorers included Charlie Jackson, who cleared 5' 6" in the high jump to finish fourth, and was part of the mile relay
team comprised of Jaime Brambila, Josh Higgins, and Ben Phaneuf, which finished fourth with a time of 4:01.13. Higgins was also
second in the 600 meters with a time of 1:29.51, while Phaneuf was sixth in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:54.84. Also scoring for Fitchburg were
Michael Bourque in the shot put, sixth, 38' 8"; and the two mile relay team comprised of Anthony Ortwein, Augustin Sanchez, Connor
St. Germain, and Noah Giordano, which finished sixth with a combined time of 10:41.65. Others competing for Fitchburg were:
Freeman Palmer, 55 meter high hurdles, seventh, 10.26; Santiago, 55 meter dash, eighth, 7.22; Bruce Johnson, shot put, ninth, 34' .25";
Sage Bray, 55 meter high hurdles, ninth, 10.86; Feliz, 300 meters, tenth, 42.10; Sanchez, mile, eleventh, 5:43.71; Saddler,
55 meter dash, eleventh, 7.31; St. Germain, 600 meters, twelfth, 1:48.60; and Ortwein, mile, twelfth, 5:57.07.
The Red Raiders will host the District E Championships next Saturday, with Fitchburg competing in Division I starting at 9:00 a.m.
January 25, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team captured one first place, and had three career bests
at the combined Coaches Invitational and Elite Meets, which was held on Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center, Roxbury Community College, due to the snow storm on Saturday morning.
The Red Raiders were once again led by the first place performance of Leo Ramirez in the shot put, who broke his own school
record in the shot put once again by 7" with a distance of 55' 7". Raimrez has the two best throws in Massachusetts this Winter. Also representing Fitchburg in
the meet were Nik Myles, who jumped a career best in the long jump with a distance of 20' 6.25" to finish twelfth, and ran 7.01 in the 55 meter dash, finishing sixtieth overall.
Josh Higgins competed in the 600 meters for Fitchburg, and ran a career best 1:27.21, finishing twenty-first overall.
The Red Raiders will host the Mid-Wach League A & B League Championship Meets this Saturday, with Fitchburg competing in Mid-Wach A Meet starting at 9:30 a.m.
January 22, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team overwhelmed
arch-rival Leominster, 60.5 to 30.5, Thursday night at the Doug Grutchfield Field House.
The Red Raiders were led by Ben Phaneuf, who captured two events, the two mile, 11:51.6, and the 1000 meters,
3:02.8. Other first place performances were turned in by: Leo Ramirez, shot put, 47' 10"; Niklas Myles, 55 meter dash, 6.8; Joshua Higgins, 600 meters,
1:32.7; Charlie Jackson, high jump, 5' 6"; Augustin Sanchez, mile, 5:49.6; and the 880 yard relay team comprised of Myles, Greg Santiago,
Brandon Feliz, and Kobe Saddler, 1:49.6. Finishing second were: Myles, high jump, 5' 2"; Bruce Johnson, shot put, 38' 8"; Santiago,
55 meter dash, 7.1; Freeman Palmer, 55 meter high hurdles, 10.1; and Feliz, 300 meters, 41.3. Completing the scoring by finishing third
were: Michael Bourque, shot put, 37' 9.25"; Sage Bray, 55 meter high hurdles, 11.0; Saddler, 55 meter dash, 7.2; Anthony Ortwein,
mile, 5:57.5; Jaime Brambila, 300 meters, 41.7; and Connor St. Germain, 600 meters, 1:457.5.
The Red Raiders travel to the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center in Roxbury this weekend to compete in the Coaches Invitational
and Elite Meets scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, respectively, with both meets scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.
January 17, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team ran to a twelfth place finish
at the State Division III Relays held Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center, Roxbury Community College.
The Red Raiders were led by the shot put relay team comprised of Leo Ramirez, Bruce Johnson, and Marc Merchant, which finished first with a
combined distance of 127' 4.5". Also representing Fitchburg by order of finish were: the shuttle dash relay A team comprised of Kobe Saddler,
Ron Valentin, Greg Santiago, and Nik Myles, ninth, 23.83; the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Joshua Higgins, Brandon Feliz, Charlie Jackson,
and Ben Phaneuf, tenth, 3:48.61; the long jump team comprised of Myles, Santiago, and Higgins, tenth, 50' 10"; the 800 meter relay A team comprised of
Santiago, Saddler, Feliz, and Myles, eleventh, 1:38.72; the 3200 meter relay team comprised of Higgins, Augustin Sanchez, Connor St. Germain, and Phaneuf, sixteenth,
9:20.71; the 800 meter relay B team comprised of Dylan Paradis, Sage Bray, Landon Tucker, and Jamie Brambila, twenty-fifth, 1:46.10; annd the shuttle dash B
relay team comprised of Brambila, Paradis, Freeman Palmer, and Bray, twenty-seventh, 25.10.
The Red Raiders host arch-rival Leominster next Thursday night at the Doug Grutchfield Field House with that meet scheduled to get underway at
4:30 p.m.
January 14, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team was downed by Wachusett Regional,
68 to 23, Wednesday night at the Doug Grutchfield Field House.
The Red Raiders were Nik Myles, who finished first in the 55 meter dash, 6.9, and tied for second in the high jump, 5' 4".
Finishing second were: Ben Phaneuf, two mile, 11:32.3; Charlie Jackson, high jump, 5' 4"; Bruce Johnson, shot put, 37' 10.5"; Joshua Higgins,
mile, 5:05.3; and Freeman Palmer, 55 meter high hurdles, 10.5. Completing the scoring by finishing third were: Marcos Diaz, 300 meters, 41.4;
and Higgins, 1000 meters, 3:00.1.
The Red Raiders travel back to the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center in Roxbury on Saturday to compete in the State Division III Relays scheduled to get
underway at 9:30 a.m.
January 7, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team was edged out by the
Shepherd Hill Regional, 46 to 45, Wednesday night at the Doug Grutchfield Field House.
The Red Raiders were once again led by the first place performance of Leo Ramirez in the shot put, who increased his Fitchburg
High School Facility Record with a throw of 54' 7". Other first place performances were turned in by: Niklas Myles, 55 meter dash,
6.8; Brandon Feliz, 300 meters, 41.7; Joshua Higgins, 600 meters, 1:35.0, and two mile, 10:58.5; Charlie Jackson, high jump, 5' 4"; and the 880 yard relay team comprised of Greg Santiago, Kobe Saddler, Feliz, and Myles, 1:48.7.
Finishing second were: Ben Phaneuf, mile, 5:14.9, and 1000 meters, 3:07.1; Myles, high jump, 5' 2"; and Landon Tucker, 300 meters,
42.1. Completing the scoring by finishing third was Freeman Palmer in the 55 meter high hurdles, 10.6.
The Red Raiders host Wachusett Regional next Wednesday night with that meet scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m.
January 3, 2015 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team turned in a number of personal
bests, including one first place performance Saturday at the MSTCA Auerbach Freshman-Sophomore Championship Track Meet held at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center.
Leading the way for the young Red Raiders was Charlie Jackson, who captured the high jump with a height of 5' 6". Personal bests were turned in by
Landon Tucker, 300 meters, thirty-first, 42.70; Sage Bray, 55 meter dash, fifty-second, 7.94; Anthony Ortwein, mile, sixty-second, 5:44.55; Noah Giordano, mile, sixty-ninth, 5:50.71; and Kobe Saddler, 55 meter dash, 7.37. Also representing
Fitchburg in the meet were: Freeman Palmer, 55 meter high hurdles, forty-first, 11.20; the 800 meter relay team comprised of Bray, Saddler, Dylan Paradis, and Hakeem
Boddie, sixteenth, 1:50.37; and the 1600 meter relay team comprised of Giordano, Ortwein, Tucker, and Jackson, twenty-third, 4:22.45.
The Red Raiders host Shepherd Hill Regional Wednesday night at the Doug Grutchfield Field House with the meet scheduled to get underway at 5:00 p.m.
December 21, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team turned in several top performances
at the MSTCA Winter Festival held Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center.
The Red Raiders were once again led by the first place performance of Leo Ramirez in the shot put, who broke his own school
record in the shot put by 11' .75" with a distance of 55'. Other top performances were turned in by Niklas Myles, who finished second in the
55 meter dash with time of 6.83, and then teamed with Greg Santiago, Marcos Diaz, and Demetrice Williams to finish sixth in the 800 meter relay
with a time of 1:38.86. Josh Higgins also turned in a personal best in the 600 meters to finish eighth in 1:29.10. Also representing Fitchburg in the meet
were: Michael Bourque, shot put, thirteenth, 39' 11.75"; Williams, 55 meter dash, thirty-seventh, 7.34; and Santiago, 55 meter dash, thirty-ninth, 7.39.
The Red Raiders travel back to the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury on Saturday, January 3rd, to compete in the Auerbach Freshmen-Sophomore
meet scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.
December 17, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team was defeated by the
Algonquin Regional Tomahawks, 64 to 27, Wednesday night at the Doug Grutchfield Field House.
The Red Raiders were once again led by the first place performance of Leo Ramirez in the shot put, who shattered his Fitchburg
High School Facility Record with a throw of 53' 6.5". Other first place performances were turned in by: Niklas Myles, 55 meter dash,
6.8; and the 880 yard relay team comprised of Kobe Saddler, Greg Santiago, Myles, and Demetrice Williams, 1:46.1. Finishing second were: Michael
Bourque, shot put, 40' 3"; Charlie Jackson, high jump, 5' 4"; and Joshua Higgins, two mile, 11:14.2. Completing the scoring by finishing
third were: Freeman Palmer, 55 meter high hurdles, 10.7; Williams, 55 meter dash, 7.1; and Brandon Feliz, 300 meters, 42.5.

December 13, 2014 - The Fitchburg High School boys' indoor track & field team was defeated by the
Shrewsbury Colonials, 65 to 26, Saturday morning at the Doug Grutchfield Field House.
The Red Raiders were led by the first place performance of Leo Ramirez in the shot put, who improved on his Fitchburg
High School Facility Record with a throw of 52' 11". Other first place performances were turned in by: Charlie Jackson, high jump,
5'; Nik Myles, 55 meter dash, 7.0; and the mile relay team comprised of Jackson, Jamie Brambila, Damien Nadal, and Joshua Higgins,
4:16.0. Finishing second were: Michael Bourque, shot put, 40' 4"; and Higgins, two mile, 11:23.4. Completing the scoring by finishing
third was Ethan Aubuchon in the 55 meter high hurdles, 10.2.
The Red Raiders host Algonquin Regional Wednesday night with that meet scheduled to get underway at 5:00 p.m.
